There are several types of love to avoid, including love for one’s own life, the world, and money. Love for oneself can lead to self-preservation and selfishness, while love for the world can distract us from God’s love and lead us into sin. The love of money, or covetousness, can push us away from God and cause us to hurt ourselves. To combat these misplaced loves, we must apply the gifts of the spirit, such as love and a sound mind. We should also take heed of Jesus’s warnings to avoid the world and its temptations, and to remember that God’s love for us is unconditional and that He desires our return to Him.
