Pulling Down Strongholds (Part 5) – Cultivating the Spiritual Christian Life

Pastor Tim Travis uses 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 to differentiate between carnal and spiritual Christians. The Corinthian church serves as a primary example of “carnal” believers, defined as saved individuals who are still controlled by their human nature rather than the Holy Spirit, exhibiting traits like envy, strife, tolerance of sin, and disrespect for authority. In contrast, “spiritual” Christians, exemplified by King David, possess a deep desire for God, a passion for His glory, humility, and a right attitude towards sin and God’s Word. Pastor Travis emphasizes that while outward behavior can be misleading, a true spiritual Christian is ultimately Spirit-controlled and focused on Christ, consistently striving to deny self and align with God’s will.
