Pulling Down Strongholds (Part 2) – Resisting Temptation

Pastor Tim Travis explains how strongholds, often manifesting as addictions or emotional issues, develop over time and ensnare even believers. Drawing heavily from 1 Corinthians 10 and other scriptures, he differentiates between tests from the Lord—which build patience—and temptations to sin, which lead to downfall, citing examples like Israel, Samson, and David. Travis asserts that sinful temptations originate from three sources: the devil, who seeks to blind minds and corrupt believers; our own lusts, which entice us subtly and progress from enticement to overt sin; and the world, which appeals to carnal desires and offers a false, heretical spiritual path. Recognizing our individual weaknesses is crucial, as the world, flesh, and devil exploit these vulnerabilities. However, Pastor Travis concludes with a message of hope, emphasizing that God provides a way of escape through the Bible (offering absolute standards and protection), the Holy Spirit (empowering resistance), and Jesus Christ (who, having been tempted, intercedes and offers aid).
